Writing
Writing is a skill that combines physical and cognitive processes in order to communicate written words. It is considered to be one of the most difficult to master because it requires students to think about how they are going to form letters and what they are going to write, while also expressing their thoughts and remembering to use proper grammar. |
Traits of writing Rubric
This is an informal assessment used to determine student mastery of writing. The target ages are five to twelve and the time required is approximately sixty minutes. The teacher will provide students with a writing prompt and use the rubric to determine traits of writing mastery, which include composition (ideas/organization), written expression (voice, word choice, sentence fluency), and usage and mechanics (conventions, presentation).
