Sight Word Vocabulary
Sight words are the most commonly used words in the English language. They should be easily identified in order for a student to be an efficient reader. It improves fluency and automaticity so that students can focus on decoding words that are meaningful to the text. It is especially important for beginning readers because they are able to focus on reading comprehension. |

It contains nine separate lists with sight words as well as an assessment sheet for each. Beginning with list one, the teacher will point to one word at a time for the student to identify. If the student is able to identify the word in three seconds or less, the teacher will place a plus sign on the assessment sheet. If the student takes longer than three seconds, gives an incorrect answer, or sounds out the word, the teacher will place a minus sign on the assessment sheet. The teacher should not move on to the next list until it is determined that the student has mastered the one before.
